An Aeromexico Boeing 787 Dreamliner was forced to reject a take-off after the left-hand engine ingested birds, a video posted on social media showed.

The Boeing 787-8 (registered as N782AM) was operating Aeromexico flight AM549, which was scheduled to depart from Cancun International Airport (CUN), Mexico, at 6:06 PM local time (UTC -5) on January 3, 2021, and to arrive at Mexico City International Airport (MEX) at 7:25 PM local time (UTC-6). As the Dreamliner was conducting its take-off run to depart from CUN, the left-hand engine ingested birds and the flight crew was forced to abandon the take-off procedure.

The aircraft taxied back to the gate safely. According to local media reports, some passengers suffered minor injuries onboard.

“The aircraft is being serviced and customers will be relocated to another flight so they can reach their destination. Aeromexico regrets the inconvenience caused by this event and reiterates that the safety of its customers and collaborators is the highest priority,” read a statement by the airline issued on January 3, 2021.
