The AirCar, the flying car of the Slovak company Klein Vision, successfully completed its maiden flight. The vehicle can transfer from the road to the air in less than three minutes with just the push of a button.

On November 3, 2020, the flying car designed by Stefan Klein completed two flights at Piestany Airport (PZY) in Slovakia, achieving two full airport patterns including two takeoffs and landings. The AirCar reached an altitude of 1,500 feet (450 meters).

“The key flight parameters confirmed all theoretical concepts and calculations that the development of the AirCar was based on,”  said Stefan Klein, Klein Vision’s CTO and test pilot, in a press release. “Following the completion of all required flight tests in compliance with EASA regulations, we will deliver a model with a certified ADEPT, 300HP engine within the next 6 next months.” According to its inventor, the AirCar already has a buyer.

Powered by a propeller, the vehicle weighs 1,100 kilograms (2,400 pounds) and can carry an additional load of 200 kilograms (440 pounds) per flight. Once in flight, its range is estimated at 1,000 kilometers (620 miles), with a consumption of 18 liters/hour.

As it is still a prototype, the potential commercial price of the AirCar remains unknown. The previous prototype of Stefan Klein, the AeroMobil, was estimated at around €1 million.
