A British Airways plane flying from the United Kingdom to Italy had to make an emergency landing at Heathrow airport shortly after takeoff after passengers reported a smell of burning and a member of the flight crew felt unwell.
The Airbus A320-232, registration G-EUYD, was to carry out flight BA2596 from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Verona Airport (VRN).
Shortly after takeoff, at least one passenger noticed a burning smell in the cabin. Additionally, one of the crew members was reportedly feeling unwell. Thus, the flight was aborted and the aircraft returned to the airport 21 minutes after departure. It was met by the fire services of the airport. All passengers were deplaned safely.
