Boeing suffered a significant drop of more than 40% in its deliveries compared to the number of distributed planes in the same period in 2019. The plane delivery list showed that the manufacturer handed only 28 jets to its customers.

The list of third-quarter Boeing aircraft deliveries showed that the manufacturer handed over only 28 planes to their owners in a period from July through September. The manufacturer delivered thirteen 787s, six 767s, five 777s, three 737s and one 747s. However, in comparison to the same period in 2019, when Boeing passed down 63 aircraft at the time, the quantity of recently completed orders of all Boeing types has significantly dropped.

„We continue to work closely with our customers around the globe, understanding their near-term and longer-term fleet needs, aligning supply and demand while navigating the significant impact this global pandemic continues to have on our industry,“ said Greg Smith, the Chief Financial Officer of Boeing in a press release.

One of the reasons for the severe drop was production issues, as Boeing was forced to face additional inspections and repairs of its 787 Dreamliners. The collapse in the passenger demand related to COVID-19 travel restrictions has also made Boeing to shrink its workforce as well as shed the non-core investments in order to cut costs and save the company’s cash.

The issue with the Boeing 737 MAX recertification has also made a significant impact on the lost sales. Boeing counted that cancellations of the 737 MAX orders reduced the manufacturer’s sales by one third.
