Middle East Airlines (MEA) took a symbolic delivery of Airbus A321neo aircraft with a manufacturer serial number of 10,000. The brand-new aircraft became the second extraordinary-marked jet in MEA’s fleet.

With the delivery of a jet with a symbolic A320 Family sticker MSN 10,000, MEA expanded its fleet to a total of 19 Airbus aircraft. Planespotters.com data showed that the airline received an exclusively marked jet on October 6, 2020.

The national flag carrier of Lebanon received its two A321neo jets earlier between July 9 and July 30, 2020. During the handover of a distinctive serial number-jet in Toulouse, France, Mohamad El Hout, the Chairman and Director General of MEA noted that this is already the second distinctively-marked Airbus in the air carrier’s fleet. In 2012, the airline already had welcomed an  A320 jet with a unique manufacturer serial number of MSN 5,000.

“We are honored to receive the state of the art A321neo with its distinctive serial number 10,000 coinciding with the 75th anniversary of Middle East Airlines and especially after receiving MSN 5,000 back in 2012. Since we first acquired an A320 Family aircraft in 2003, we have not only benefited from the outstanding operational efficiency of the aircraft but were also the first airline to introduce the wide-body cabin product on a single-aisle aircraft which has become a trend in the airline industry afterwards,” said Mohamad El Hout.

Christian Scherer, the Chief Commercial Officer, said that the delivery of MSN 10,000 was „a milestone that demonstrates the success of the A320 Family and we thank our customers globally for their confidence in our products.”

According to the manufacturer, MEA brand-new A321neo is powered by Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM geared turbofan engines. The aircraft is also equipped with a two-class layout of 28 seats in Business and 132 seats in Economy Class.
