Turkish Technik, a MRO subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, completed the construction of its new base maintenance hangars at Istanbul Airport (IST) and is ready to welcome its domestic and international customers. The General Manager of the company announced that the new hangars would be able to provide maintenance services for 45 aircraft simultaneously.

The new base maintenance hangars are part of a larger Turkish Technic MRO hub construction at Istanbul Airport, announced the company in a press release on October 10, 2020. In order to make the airport a single-source aircraft maintenance location, the new Turkish Technik hangars will offer its customers a wide range of maintenance services at an indoor area of 60,000 square meters. These MRO facilities will include line and cabin maintenance, A checks, structural repair as well as component pool services.

The previous Turkish Technik MRO site at Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (SAW), which the company still continues to run, has had a capacity for three wide-body and six narrow-body aircraft simultaneously. Meanwhile, Ahmet Karaman, the General Manager of Turkish Technik, said that the new hangars at Istanbul Airport (IST) will expand the company’s ability to serve more aircraft at the same time reaching a total of 45 jets at once.

“Believing that Istanbul Airport is the new aviation hub of Turkey and the world, we maximize the technical services we provide here with such investments,” announced Karaman.

“We have achieved significant growth with the opening of these base maintenance hangars, where we have welcomed our first customers. Upon the completion of all phases in our MRO complex consisting of environmentally friendly structures, we will be able to provide maintenance services to 45 aircraft simultaneously,’’ added the General Manager of Turkish Technic.

According to the press release, the new hangars also implement a bunch of environment-friendly initiatives such as solar energy use and rainwater harvesting in order to meet the water needs of new construction. The company announced that the waste oil taken out from aircraft tanks enables the heating system of the hangars to run on recycled fuel. The company added that all elements in and around the new MRO sites are equipped and managed by smart automation systems.

Turkish Technic said that the company is ready to serve its domestic and international customers.
