Gulf carrier Qatar Airways continues to expand in Africa with new flights set to commence to Accra, Ghana.

Accra’s addition would push Qatar’s network in Africa to 46 weekly flights across 14 destinations and mark its fourth new destination launched since the start of the pandemic.

“We first announced our intention to launch flights to Accra in January 2020 and while the pandemic has slightly delayed these plans, it has not stopped us from fulfilling our commitment to passengers in Ghana and around the world,” Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said in a statement on September 15, 2020.

The airline has been on a network rebuilding rampage recently, re-establishing nearly 20 of its previous destinations in a span of two months from mid-July 2020.

Similar numbers have been showcased by Qatar’s close Gulf competitor the Emirates after the airline’s flagship Airbus A380 returned to Moscow, the 29th restored destination from its pre-COVID network.
