Once the scanner gets a passenger’s facial data, which is correlated with passport and check-in information, the traveller will not be asked for a passport and boarding pass. Baggage screening is a common but important process at the airport. Here too, AI-based technologies can be integrated into security systems to help ease the process. 

From 2019, Copenhagen Airport,  the biggest airport operator in Scandinavia, has started incorporating AI-powered technologies into its central security control. By testing numerous screening equipment, including new C3 scanners, Copenhagen Airport seeks to completely optimize the baggage screening experience for passengers. From 2020, passengers can try a new baggage screening technology using two dedicated lanes, 23 and 24. The new AI-based equipment presents modern 3D images and allows passengers to leave their electronics and liquids in the hand luggage during the baggage screening process.

Smart security technologies can be defined as advanced technologies and innovative mechanisms that ensure safety in a particular area. Smart security tools, including smart screening points, became a necessity in nowadays’ airports. By using smart security technologies passengers are screened seamlessly from different touchpoints at the airport. With a reason to strengthen the security of the airport, the smart security zone, which includes AI-based technologies, gives a clearer view of passengers and objects they are caring with them.
