As it was attempting to land in cyclonic conditions, a FedEx flight overshot the runway of Mumbai airport. No damage was reported.
The western coast of India is currently being hit by Cyclone Nisargan, a severe cyclonic storm that formed in the Arabian Sea.
In this context, the FedEx MD-11F, registered N583FE, was carrying out flight FX5033 from Bangalore International Airport (BLR) to Mumbai-Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM).
After a flight of one hour and fourteen minutes, the aircraft attempted to land on runway 14, but due to the adverse weather conditions, overshot it and came to a stop on the stopway.

“The aircraft went slightly ahead due to the prevailing cyclonic conditions,” commented Mumbai Air Traffic Control. No damage to the tri-engined aircraft or to the airport was reported. Traffic was interrupted for 30 minutes before the aircraft was eventually taxied to the apron.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-11F N583FE is a converted freighter acquired by FedEx in 1997. The airframe started as an airliner with American Airlines (A1G) (AAL) in 1991.
