The investigators working on the downed Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) A320 crash site found the missing black box, the cockpit voice recorder. A day after denying the earlier-found black box was sent out of the country, French authorities have now confirmed that both flight recorders would be analyzed in France

On May 28, 2020, the French Civil Aviation Safety Investigation Authority (BEA) issued an update on the tragic PK8303 accident investigation progress.

The Pakistan Aircraft Accident Investigation Board (AAIB) team has found the missing cockpit voice recorder (CVR), according to their French colleagues. The CVR was found one day after BEA revealed that it had been missing for the first five days since the accident. Another flight recorder on the downed Airbus A320 (registered AP-BLD), the flight data recorder or the FDR was found during the earlier stages of the investigation.

BEA also said it received a request from Pakistan to handle FDR & CVR repair and data download operations. The authority clarified that these operations would be carried out in France at a later date.

Pakistan International Airlines flight PK8303 crashed just outside the Karachi Airport, Pakistan, on May 22, 2020. Of the 99 people (89 passengers and eight crew) onboard the Airbus A320, two passengers survived the accident. Eleven people were injured on the ground.
