A rare sight in the skies, the world’s largest aircraft Antonov An-225 Mriya has been busy over the last week, racing forward and backward Europe-China routes to transport medical cargo for coronavirus relief efforts.
On April 13, 2020, after a brief, 15 hours (!) long cargo loading, An-225 took off from Tianjin China Airport carrying roughly 1000 m3 load of medicines, tests for laboratory analysis, medical masks and other protective equipment ‒ a cargo volume, which has never been transported inside the cargo hold of the aircraft, according to the aircraft’s operator.
