Vietnam Airlines is halting all international flights in its network for at least a month, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has resulted in a series of border closures among countries and numerous entry restrictions, the carrier announced on March 19, 2020.

Vietnam Airlines flight cancellations would come into effect gradually by March 25 and would last approximately for a month, until April 30, 2020, the airline estimates. They halt would come into effect as follows:

  • From March 21: flights to/from Southeast Asian countries (Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar);
  • From March 23: flights to/from the UK and Japan;
  • From March 24: flights to Germany and Australia
  • From March 25: flights from Germany and Australia
  • Service to China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, France, Russia, Malaysia, and Taiwan have already been suspended.

“Vietnam Airlines hopes to receive your understanding regarding our operation in the events of force majeure,” the carrier’s statement reads. “Vietnam Airlines will extensively inform passengers on the resumption of operations of any and all flight routes upon receiving further directions from the competent authorities.”
