Avion Express, leading ACMI operator in the world, is delighted to announce that the company reached record yearly production results in 2019.

During 2019 Avion Express expanded its fleet to the all-time high number of 22 Airbus A320 family aircraft. Last year Avion Express produced a record number of over 60,200 block hours (BH) in comparison with 52,500 BH recorded during 2018. Hence, the company registered a 15% year-on-year production increase in 2019.

“Seasonality, late aircraft deliveries, crew shortage – these are some of the main reasons why more and more scheduled and charter airlines are hiring our ACMI services. These reasons, combined with cost efficiencies that ACMI services can bring to annual P&Ls of scheduled and charter airlines, increase demand for our services every year. 2019 was a challenging year in the airline industry and we put efforts to be fast and flexible in order to be best positioned to help our clients with solving their business challenges. During 2019 we expanded our fleet, increased our production results, established new ACMI airline in Malta and put efforts to build a strong foundation for further growth of the company during 2020 and beyond. Using the opportunity, I would like to thank our great team and clients for making this possible and being part of this journey”, – said Darius Kajokas, CEO Avion Express.

Last year Avion Express invested further to its business relationships and managed to expand its clients’ base. Norwegian Air, TUI, LOT Polish Airlines and VietJet Air were among the notable customers that were added to the clients’ pool. Furthermore, during 2019 Avion Express swiftly assisted scheduled and charter airlines which were affected by the infamous grounding of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

Moreover, the company quickly reacted to the insolvency of Thomas Cook company and joined the unprecedented repatriation programme of UK tourists. Avion Express alone brought back 30,000 passengers back to the UK between 23rd of September and 6th of October.

Setting the platform to enter the USA and Canadian markets, in May 2019 Avion Express has successfully established a subsidiary airline in Malta, named Avion Express Malta. The airline operates Airbus A320 family aircraft.

Company’s efforts and results were not left unnoticed. During 2019 Avion Express received various accolades abroad and domestically. European Regions Airline Association has awarded Avion Express with the Airline of the Year Bronze Award. In the European Business Awards, Avion Express has won the Award for Growth Strategy of the Year.

According to the leading local business newspaper “Verslo Žinios“, in Lithuania, the company is now considered to be among TOP 20 most desirable employers. Avion Express also took the 76th place (measured by revenue) in the TOP 1000 of the largest companies in Lithuania.
