BOC Aviation placed a firm order with Airbus for 20 A320neo aircraft, the manufacturer announced on January 7, 2020. At least ten of the aircraft (and up to twelve in total) would go to the lessor’s new customer ‒ Avianca Airlines.

BOC Aviation owns, manages and has on order a total of 509 aircraft, of which over half are made by Airbus. The manufacturer’s books show that as of December 31, 2019, the leasing company had placed 371 orders for various Airbus models and was awaiting deliveries of 60 of them, including 38 A320neos. Meanwhile, the leasing company has pointed out that the new order brings their total Airbus aircraft purchased since inception to actually 470 aircraft.

A minimum of ten and up to 12 of the A320neo aircraft from the new order have been committed for lease to Avianca Airlines, BOC Aviation has stated, highlighting that the Columbian airline is a new client for the company.

Avianca (AVHOQ) is part of Avianca Holdings, airline holding company, which owns eight carriers flying together a fleet of 151 aircraft, according to planespotters.net data. The holding company currently has 10 A320neos. Meanwhile, at the end of 2019, Airbus books indicated additional 82 A320neos to be delivered to Avianca (AVHOQ) .
