An Egyptian MiG-29M fighter jet crashed during routine military training on December 5, 2019. The pilot survived after successfully ejecting from the aircraft.
The fighter jet was on a training flight southwest of Alexandria when it was affected by “sudden malfunction” that forced the pilot to eject. The cause behind the malfunction is being investigated by a technical committee, said Egyptian military spokesman Tamer Al-Rifai said in a brief statement. Experts from Russia, where the aircraft was manufactured, should be sent to help with the investigation.
Another MiG-29 of the Egyptian Air Force crashed in November 2018, making no victim.
