For its first edition in Bangkok, Air Convention brought together a varied group of exhibitors, both local and global. During two days, professionals of the aviation industry had the opportunity to discover and exchange on a broad range of innovative solutions adapted to their market.
Technological innovation was present this year thanks to Aviar. This company based in Amsterdam, Netherlands offers training through virtual reality. Unlike classic ground operations training courses where students are limited to a “watch and learn” method, VR gives them the possibility of getting their hands on an aircraft from day one, in full immersion.
With crew shortage affecting the aviation industry globally, recruiting and retaining competent personnel has become a priority for carriers. The value accumulated by a crew member through their operating experience makes it in most cases more costly to replace them than to retain them. This is why the Norwegian group OSM Aviation presented to the airlines attending Air Convention its solutions to succeed in the employment of a skillful workforce in an increasingly competitive market.
Strength in unity: in a globalized industry such as aviation, partnerships are a good way to find as many opportunities as possible. German company Aviationscouts and RISE Aerospace from Singapore combined forces to bridge the gap between Asia and Europe in the seat surplus sector. Using the business knowledge of the aviation consultancy center RISE Aerospace, and the long expertise in sourcing surplus passenger seats of Aviationscouts, both partners aim to offer their services to the Asian market.
FLTechnics, the provider of aeronautical technical services headquartered in Vilnius, presented its Bangkok office, which oversees the company’ MRO activities in the South East-Asian region including Thailand, Vietnam, the Phillippines, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
Dohop, the Iceland-based company which made history by creating the world’s first flight planner for low-cost airlines, presented the opportunities given by virtual interline, allowing passengers to reserve a trip using multiple airlines in one booking.
Tata Communications, which operates the world’s largest communication network, presented the competitive difference that their mobile data access MOVE™ can bring to airlines by allowing employees to reach their company’s network from any device, wherever they are, and access data such as passenger lists, seating layouts, operation manuals, or flight dispatch information.
Many other diverse manufacturers and service providers were also present at the exhibition such as, Fuchi Innovation Technology, specialized in aviation material such as fabric and leather, Aeropair, an interior component manufacturer and repairer, and GMG Aviation which provides innovative graphic solutions to airlines, including livery and cabin decals.
