After less than one year of operations, Ryanair Sun is already rebranding. Ryanair Group standalone business, operating on a Polish air operator’s certificate, is to be rebranded as Buzz in autumn 2019. The company announced the news on March 14, 2019.

Headquartered in Warsaw, Ryanair Sun began operations in summer 2018 with an initial fleet of 5 Boeing 737-800 aircraft and a promise to “deliver a best in class charter services, at the lowest cost to Polish tour operators, and offer great value for customers flying to Poland’s favorite holiday destinations”.

The carrier currently operates charter flights for “leading” Polish tour operators and some scheduled Ryanair flights, using its fleet of 17 Boeing 737-800s with plans to add seven more aircraft during the upcoming summer.

“Following a successful year of growth for Ryanair Sun, we are delighted that our planes will have a new and unique branding as we launch Buzz,”  Michał Kaczmarzyk, Ryanair Sun CEO is quoted in a statement. “Our goal is to offer services at the highest level to both customers and tour-operators. Buzz will continue to operate scheduled and charter flights, with our fleet growing to 25 aircraft by summer 2019”.

Ryanair Group has four brands under its umbrella: besides the low cost giant the group owns three new brands – Laudamotion, Ryanair UK and Ryanair Sun. Laudamotion was acquired in 2018, same year as  Ryanair Sun, a Poland-based airline, began operators. Ryanair UK is the group’s “emergency airline” that would allow it to operate UK domestic routes and UK to non-EU routes in case of a no-deal Brexit. The airline announced receiving its UK AOC from the CAA on January 3, 2019.

Ryanair did not immediately respond to AeroTime’s request for comment.
