Breaking: Ethiopian Boeing 737 MAX 8 crashes, 157 people on board

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 bound for Nairobi crashed in Addis Ababa just after takeoff on March 10, 2019.

The plane was carrying out flight ET302 from Addis Ababa Bole Airport (ADD), in Ethiopia to Nairobi International Airport (NBO) in Kenya. First reports say 149 and 8 crew members were on board.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 registered ET-AVJ was only 4 months old.

“At this time search and rescue operations are in progress,” said an Ethiopian Airlines spokesperson in a press release. “We have no confirmed information about survivors or any possible casualties.”

The head of the Ethiopian government sent his condolences to the families of the victims, via Twitter.
