Security camera footage captured the moment a parked American Airlines B737 aircraft was swept away from a gate by strong gusts of wind at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport (DFW).

The video clip, which was uploaded to social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), shows the aircraft, which appears to be empty, angling to its right until it comes to a stop at a nearly 90 degree angle to its initial position at gate C21.

The incident occurred in the early morning of May 28, 2024. According to weather reports, powerful wind gusts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area reached over 70 miles per hour and were accompanied by thunder.

An American Airlines spokesperson told AeroTime: “Severe weather, including straight-line wind gusts up to 80 mph, at our Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) hub affected several parked unoccupied aircraft. There were no injuries. Our maintenance team is currently conducting thorough inspections and will make any needed repairs.”

DFW airport advised passengers with early morning flights to check their flight status due to delays.
