All six people on board a business jet were killed after the plane crashed on July 8, 2023 in Riverside County, Southern California before bursting into flames.

The 1979 Cessna C550 business jet was on its way to French Valley Airport (RBK) from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas. It departed LAS airport at around 03:15 local time.

Reports say that a marine layer suddenly enveloped the area of French Valley Airport just before the aircraft was about to land.

Marine layer clouds that impact California are low-altitude stratus clouds that form over the adjacent ocean waters.

The business jet crashed about 500 meters from the French Valley Airport runway at around 04:15 after attempting an instrument landing, Elliott Simpson, an aviation investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), said during a media briefing.

The aircraft was engulfed in flames when it was found, and all six passengers on board were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims have been identified as Ibrahem Razick, 46, of Temecula; Alma Razick, 51, of Temecula; Lindsey Gleiche, 31, of Huntington Beach; Manuel Vargas-Regalado, 32, of Temecula; Riese Lenders, 25, of Rancho Palos Verdes; and Abigail Tellez-Vargas, 33, of Murrieta.
