Emirates announced that it is set to resume its daily direct services to Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok Airport (HKG) from Dubai International Airport (DXB).
The announcement comes as Hong Kong, known to have adhered to one of the world’s toughest and most stringent COVID-19 policies, eased its restrictions to welcome international travelers.
Starting March 29, 2023, Emirates’ Dubai – Hong Kong daily direct service will resume using the airline’s fleet of A380. This will be in addition to the airline’s existing daily flight from Dubai to Hong Kong via Bangkok.
The direct flights will operate on the following schedule.
EK380 will depart Dubai at 10:45 local time and arrive in Hong Kong at 22:00 local time.
EK381 will depart Hong Kong at 00:35 local time and arrive in Dubai at 05:00 local time.
Although the route ceased operations during the pandemic, Emirates maintained trade links between Hong Kong and other strategic markets within its network, transporting imports and exports through its airfreight division, Emirates SkyCargo.
Visitors to Hong Kong currently still need to produce a negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival. Entry into restaurants and bars still requires proof of having received three shots of a coronavirus vaccine.
