Neil Durley, Chief Commercial Officer – Cargo
“This past week has seen a further reduction in the COVID19 related enquiries from China/Asia to Europe. With that we also see a further reduction in the pricing across the board. We are continuing to see requests for China-South America .
As the ‘PPE RUSH’ continues to slow, we slowly but surely, start to see more and more ‘Non COVID’ related requests. Due to the fact that many of the Freighter aircraft have been deployed to China this has left a serious lack of capacity in certain markets such as the Middle East. Here, we are still seeing the continued use of PAX–cargo–only flights transporting perishables and other essential items. We can see this continuing for a number of weeks ahead still.
As Europe begins to slowly open up again, and we have seen the return of the German Bundesliga, there is the start of a general slow focus around the sports industry. Teams will begin thinking about their domestic and soon to be International requirements. PAX requirements in general will slowly start up and requests will begin to come through for passenger travel across Europe.
Over the coming weeks we will likely see those businesses that are opening up again across Europe, and there will be a high chance for the need of PAX services, around staff transportations and crew rotations, coming back into play “
