The Chinese authorities have found the black box of China Eastern Airlines MU5735 flight on March 23, 2022, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported. The recovered black box was determined to be a Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR).
On March 21, 2022, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft registered B-1791 carrying out flight MU5735 from Kunming to Guangzhou with 132 passengers on board crashed in the Guangxi mountains, in southern China.
During a media briefing on March 23, 2022, the head of the accident investigation department at the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), Mao Yanfeng said that the black box’s exterior was severely damaged.
Mao indicated that all three pilots were in good health and that their medical records were valid. The weather did not pose any threat to the Boeing 737-800 on the day of crash, the CAAC official added.
Xinhua news agency shared photographs via its Twitter account, which show one of the black boxes recovered by Chinese investigators. The second black box has not yet been found.
