Turkey’s Istanbul Airport launched a “Chinese Friendly Airport” project with the aim to provide a personalized experience for Chinese travelers, and make them feel “at home.”

During the launch ceremony on September 23, 2020, Kadri Samsunlu, the CEO of Istanbul Airport, said that new features are intended to improve the comfort of Chinese tourists.

“China is an important country for us. We have deep-rooted historical, cultural, and economic relations,” said Samsunlu.

“Chinese Friendly Airport” specificities consist of check-in areas which are reserved exclusively for passengers arriving from China. Moreover, the passengers will be serviced by Chinese-speaking staff with unique uniforms.

Samsunlu marked that all necessary information at the airport including signs, ticket processing screens, and flight information will also be provided in Chinese.

Cui Wei, the Chinese consul general in Istanbul, positively evaluated the idea and expressed hope that this initiative will help to continue promoting friendly exchanges between the countries.
