Following the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval for the fixes of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft electrical issues, United Airlines have already begun their repairs on affected aircraft. The American carrier expects a quick return of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
The American aircraft manufacturer Boeing sent out bulletins and associated instructions for fixes of Boeing 737 MAX production issues, which have temporarily grounded more than 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft worldwide.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that they have approved service bulletins and associated instructions for Boeing 737 MAX repairs in an email to AeroTime News on May 13, 2021.
On May 14, 2021, United Airlines spokesperson Gudrun Gorner told AeroTime News that the carrier was expecting its “Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to return to service in the coming days” after the airline has completed the inspection process.
Earlier in April 2021, United said that out of an abundance of caution they temporarily had removed the affected Boeing 737 MAX from its fleet. The air carrier added that out of 30 Boeing 737 MAX, 17 aircraft were affected by the production issue.
On April 30, 2021, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an Airworthiness Directive requiring Boeing to address an “unsafe condition” of certain Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The move came after Boeing called on 16 737 MAX operators to address the electrical problem on April 9, 2021.
According to the FAA, approximately 109 aircraft were affected by the problem, 71 of which were registered in the United States.
The safety concern of a specific group of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft came after the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ungrounded the aircraft on November 18, 2021. The latest problem discovered on the MAX aircraft is known to be unrelated to the flight control system error that contributed to two fatal crashes in Ethiopia and Indonesia, claiming 346 lives.
