The US aircraft manufacturer Textron Aviation unveiled the next generation of Cessna business jets, the Citation M2 Gen2 and Citation XLS Gen2.

The upscale variant of the Cessna Citation M2, the Citation M2 Gen2, is a light business jet with a maximum range of 1,550 nautical miles (2,870 kilometers). The new variant of Citation M2 can seat up to seven passengers. It also offers new interior styling, enhanced cabin lighting, wireless charging capabilities as well as wider legroom in the cockpit.

“Since the Citation M2 was first introduced in 2013, it has quickly become one of our most popular light jet models – in particular with owner/operator customers,” senior vice president for customer experience at Textron Aviation, Christi Tannahill, announced in a statement dated October 11, 2021.

The new variant of the older Cessna Citation XLS, the Citation XLS Gen2, is a mid-size business jet with a maximum range of 2,100 nautical miles (3,889 kilometers) and a capability to carry 12 passengers. The latest XLS variant brings improved cabin acoustics, wireless management system, and lower operating costs.

“Like its predecessors, the XLS Gen2 hits the sweet spot of offering the features, amenities and comfort of a midsize jet, but with lower operating costs,” Tannahill added.

Textron Aviation says it is already taking orders from customers for both new models. Deliveries of Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 jets are expected to begin by the end of Q1 2022, while deliveries of Cessna Citation XLS Gen2 are expected by the end of Q2 2022.
