The German Air Force took delivery of the first of two Airbus A321LR troop transport aircraft from Lufthansa Technik.
The aircraft, with the tactical registration 15+10, was handed over at the ILA Berlin airshow on June 23, 2022. The sister aircraft, with the tactical registration 15+11, should be delivered “shortly,” according to Lufthansa Technik.
The A321LR will be able to fly up to 163 passengers, up to six intensive care patients, and up to 12 medium care patients, depending on the installed configuration, with a maximum range of 7,800 kilometers (4,200 nautical miles) or 9.5 flight hours.
It was part of an order placed by Lufthansa Technik on behalf of the German government, which included three ACJ350-900s and two A321LRs to renew the personnel transport fleet of the Luftwaffe.
In August 2020, the Luftwaffe took delivery of the first Airbus A350, which now operates as a governmental aircraft.
