Boeing rounded off the Farnborough Airshow with a revived order for 25 737 MAX 10 aircraft from Qatar Airways.

The deal for the largest variant of the MAX, which can seat up to 230 passengers, also included options for 25 aircraft.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker told media in Farnborough on July 18, 2022 that a previous Memorandum of Understanding, signed in January 2022, to buy up to 50 MAX 737 aircraft, comprising 25 orders and 25 options, had lapsed.

However, the deal was revived on July 21, 2022, adding Boeing short-haul aircraft to Qatar’s fleet. Along with aircraft from rival Airbus, Qatar Airways operates over 120 Boeing planes, including 777 and 787 passenger jets, plus 747 and 777 freighters.

“We are honored that Qatar Airways has decided to add Boeing’s single-aisle family to its fleet, deepening our relationship with this world-class airline,” said Stan Deal, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO in a statement

The order came after a relatively quiet edition of the Farnborough Airshow, which was being held for the first time since 2018.
