Wizz Air Abu Dhabi plans to resume daily passenger flights between the United Arab Emirates and Russia starting from October 2022.
The UAE-based subsidiary of Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air is set to restart flights from its base at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) to Vnukovo International Airport (VKO) in Moscow from October 3, 2022, the airline’s flight booking website indicates.
One-way tickets are on sale for a price of AED379 (around $103.18).
The Wizz Air Abu Dhabi flight schedule update was also confirmed by the carrier’s managing director Michael Berlouis. Speaking to Gulf News on August 8, 2022, the executive said that the airline supports the UAE travel industry “by enhancing connectivity both regionally and globally in line with national regulations and policies”
Budapest-based parent company Wizz Air suspended all its activities in Russia on February 27, 2022, after Russia invaded Ukraine. The airline also said that all its flights to and from Russia will remain suspended during the whole summer season up until October 30, 2022.
“Wizz Air is constantly monitoring the ongoing situation, therefore all flights to/from Russia will be canceled for the full summer season schedule up until 30 October. The flights are being removed from the booking system. Any further changes will be announced in due course,” the parent company wrote in a social media post on April 1, 2022.
