Fiji Airways has welcomed two ATR aircraft to its fleet, enhancing its reach and connectivity across Fiji and the South Pacific.

The first of the new ATRs arrived on December 29, 2024, with the second aircraft following on January 5th, 2025. This fleet expansion will improve Fiji Airways’ domestic capacity to serve regional communities, particularly in Northern Fiji.

According to the airline, the two ATR 72-600 aircraft, each with a seating capacity of 68, will primarily be used on its regional routes, including those servicing the Northern and Western areas of Fiji.

Eventually, additional ATR aircraft will be introduced to further enhance capacity and enable more frequent and efficient services on key domestic routes such as Nadi International Airport (NAN) to Nausori International Airport (SUV) in Suva and Labasa Airport (LBS).

The airline asserts that this move aligns with its broader strategy to enhance Nadi Airport as a hub through connectivity and improve travel options for international and domestic passengers.

“These two new ATR aircraft are a significant investment in Fiji’s domestic connectivity. They are an important part of our commitment to providing comfortable and efficient travel options for our passengers and offering greater connectivity between our islands,” Fiji Airways CEO and Managing Director Andre Viljoen said in a statement.

“This fleet expansion will also help us continue to meet the growing demand for domestic travel, ensuring that we can provide increased capacity where it’s needed most,” Viljoen continued.

In addition to the fleet expansion, Fiji Link, the domestic and regional subsidiary of Fiji Airways, has launched its new staff uniforms, which are now aligned with the signature Fiji Airways uniform.

The uniform change is part of the airline’s goal to further standardize company branding across all divisions, which includes a unified look for both Fiji Airways and Fiji Link team members.
