Five people have been killed in Mesa, Arizona, after a HA-420 HondaJet crashed into a vehicle outside Falcon Field Airport (MSC), local police said.
According to The Arizona Republic, the HA-420 HondaJet crashed on Greenfield Road on November 5, 2024, at around 16:40, local time, leading to the area’s closure for several hours.
The National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) confirmed in a social media post that the agency is investigating the crash and reportedly told journalists that the incident occurred following an aborted takeoff.
The aircraft reportedly failed its takeoff and broke through the airport’s perimeter fence.
According to the New York Times, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said there were five people onboard the small plane, but did not confirm if those were the fatal victims or there were others in the impacted vehicle.
Video footage taken by a local news station showed the plane and vehicle wreckage billowing with smoke and a fire close by.
Among those that responded to the emergency were the Mesa Police Department and Mesa Fire and Medical.

In a series of updates, Mesa Police said its officers were “working a plane crash at Greenfield and McKellips Road”.
In the latest update Mesa Police said that “investigators will be working the scene throughout the night”.
