Jet Aviation has announced that it has broken ground at its new FBO and hangar facility, to be located at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (OPF) in Florida. The facility will feature two large, private-use hangars, and on-site US Customs and Border Protection.
Jet Aviation is a wholly owned subsidiary of US aerospace company General Dynamics and has around 4,000 employees located at 50 sites worldwide. The company specializes in private jet aircraft management, aircraft sales, charter, completions, defense, FBO, maintenance and staffing.
According to a statement issued by Jet Aviation, the new 27-acre facility will be situated on the west side of the airfield and feature a newly constructed 790 square meter (8,500 sq ft) Fixed Base Operator (FBO) service, plus an aircraft parking apron totaling an area of 50,167 sq m (540,000 sq ft) and capable of accommodating large-cabin business jets. The facility will also take in a 446 sq m (4,800 sq ft) space for a dedicated on-site US Customs and Border Protection station.
In addition to these facilities, two 1,858 sq m (20,000 sq ft) private-use hangars will be constructed on the site. Each of these will include hangar office support and have the capacity for multiple large cabin and ultra-long range business jets, with full FBO ground services offered by Jet Aviation staff to private jet owners, operators, and crews.
“Adding Miami to our network is key to further strengthening our footprint in the US,” said David Best, Jet Aviation’s Senior Vice President of Regional Operations Americas. “We are committed to growing in locations where our customers want us to be. Florida is an important destination for business aviation, and we are excited to continue the legacy of seamless service that we have built in Palm Beach since 1985.”

Construction is already underway of the FBO ramp, taxiway connections and fuel farm. The facility will also offer sustainable aviation fuel via Jet Aviation’s global Book & Claim program, with the intention to move to a physical supply once the site is operational. The first phase of operation is scheduled to commence in Q3 2025.
“We are incredibly excited to have begun construction on our new FBO in Opa-Locka,” said Richard Layson, Vice President of FBO Operations Americas for Jet Aviation. “The state-of-the-art facility is built with our customers’ specific requirements in mind, including a private entrance and dedicated US Customs and Border Protection. In addition, we are delighted to be able to offer two private, large, state-of-the-art hangars with the capacity to accommodate several large-cabin business jets simultaneously, providing a well-located base for customers in the region.”
