Mandarin Airlines, a regional subsidiary of Taiwan’s carrier China Airlines, has announced the addition of another ATR 72-600 aircraft to its fleet, bringing the total number of ATR 72-600 operated by the airline to 13.
In a press release published on October 11, 2024, the airline announced that additional aircraft delivery had been scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, in order to meet the high demand during Mandarin Airlines peak season.
The latest delivery comes after an order for six ATR 72-600 aircraft made at the Paris Air Show in 2023. So far, three of these aircraft have been delivered, and the remaining three are expected to be delivered in the third and fourth quarters of 2025.
“The turboprop’s exceptional fuel efficiency, low operating costs and reliability make it the perfect choice to strengthen our current routes and explore new services to further stimulate the local economy and tourism sector across Taiwan,” said Kao Shing-Hwang, Chairman of Mandarin Airlines.
Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, Chief Executive Officer of ATR, added: “Mandarin Airlines has been consistently unlocking new opportunities for the Taiwanese communities in a responsible and cost-effective manner over the past seven years.”
Mandarin Airlines mainly operates from Sungshan Airport (TSA) and is an important part of Taiwan’s domestic flight network. It provides services to eight major destinations, such as the islands of Kinmen, Penghu and Matsu.
