A Boeing 737 carrying Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance was forced to make an emergency landing in Milwaukee on August 16, 2024, due to a malfunctioning door.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-86J (registered N917XA), is being chartered from Eastern Air Express for the Trump presidential campaign. It is used alongside former President Donald Trump’s private jet, a Boeing 757-200 (registered N757AF) known as “Trump Force One.”

Vance, an Ohio senator and Trump’s running mate, was in Milwaukee to meet with the Milwaukee Police Association.

According to the Trump campaign management, the aircraft returned to Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) shortly after takeoff because of a problem with the door seal. Campaign spokeswoman Taylor Van Kirk confirmed that the pilot decided to return to the airport as a safety precaution.

After the issue was resolved, the aircraft departed without further incident for its original destination of Cincinnati.
