Flight cancellations and delays are expected in the coming days and weeks as Aerolineas Argentinas pilots announced protest plans for August 2024.
The announcement, made through the Airline Pilots Association (APLA), said that pilot members have been negotiating wage increases with the airline in line with inflation for months, but have not received fair responses or proposals.
Throughout August 2024, the pilots plan to hold assemblies at four different Argentine airports. The assemblies are expected to affect the carrier’s regular schedules.
The first meeting is scheduled for August 19, 2024 at Buenos Aires’ Aeroparque Internacional Jorge Newbery (AEP) between 09:00 – 11:30 local time.
A second assembly is planned on August 22, 2024 at Ezeiza International Airport (EZE).
On August 27, 2024, simultaneous assemblies are scheduled to take place at Ingeniero Aeronáutico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport (COR) in Cordoba and Aeropuerto Internacional El Plumerillo – Mendoza (MDZ).
On August 28, 2024, a union meeting is set to take place at EZE, and another assembly is scheduled at AEP for August 30, 2024.
“Our salaries have been degraded not only at the international level but also at the regional level,” Aerolineas Argentinas pilots were quoted by the Buenos Aires Herald.
